La Nostra Storia
A long time ago in two countries far, far away…
The year was 1985 and, as always, many new people were born. Two of those would be Chiara Diritti and Damien Anderson who did not share language, culture, nor country, and yet they would have more in common with each other than either thought possible.
They grew up, took on life’s challenges, and forged themselves into two young adults in search for true connection.Two roads were travelled that could not be more different from each other. And then in 2013 those roads would be brought together at Chiara’s 28th birthday party, where she does not even remember meeting Damien, but the first thread joining them together was weaved.
Some months later at a mutual friend’s birthday, when seeking reprieve from the raging party in the house, Damien went out in the garden with some friends, including Chiara. At some point the conversation took a turn which would decide the fate of their future relationship forever…
“I have never seen Star Wars.”
A wind rushed through their hair at the seemingly impossible words that Chiara had uttered so casually. How? What? Why? These things didn’t matter, Damien had to fix this. A film night was arranged in which Chiara offered to make dinner on the condition that Damien had some tomato sauce, which he assumed meant ketchup. This was the first of many cultural differences that the two would overcome.
“What shall we watch next?”
What began as a single weekend became a week, a month, a year… a decade and counting and will be fourteen years by the time of this wedding. Two people on different roads now intertwined, always finding something new to watch, something new to try, and people to share it all with. And so, we hope to celebrate everything that we have built together, and everything we plan to build together with those nearest and dearest to us…

Tanto tempo fa in due paesi molto, molto lontani…
Era l’anno 1985 e, come sempre, naquero molte persone. Due di esse furono Chiara Diritti e Damien Anderson, che non condividevano lingua, cultura nè paese, eppure avranno in comune tra di loro molto più di quanto entrambi ritenessero possibile.
Crebbero, affrontarono le sfide della vita, e modellarono se stessi in due giovani adulti alla ricerca di connessione autentica. Percorsero due strade che non potevano essere una più differente dall’altra. E poi nel 2013 quelle strade si congiunsero alla festa del 28° compleanno di Chiara, dove lei nemmeno si ricorda di aver incontrato Damien, ma il primo filo che li univa insieme fu intrecciato.
Qualche mese dopo, al complenno di un amico in comune, mentre cercava un po’ di tregua dalla scatenata festa in casa, Damien uscì in giardino con alcuni amici, tra cui Chiara. A un certo punto la conversazione prese una piega che avrebbe cambiato il corso della loro relazione per sempre…
“Non ho mai visto Star Wars.”
Una ventata scompigliò i loro capelli alle parole apparentemente impossibili che Chiara aveva pronunciato così casualmente. Come? Cosa? Perché? Non aveva importanza, Damien doveva rimediare. Fu organizzata una serata cinema in cui Chiara si offrì di preparare la cena a condizione che Damien avesse della salsa di pomodoro, che lui pensava significasse ketchup. Questa fu la prima di molte differenze culturali che i due avrebbero superato.
“Cosa guardiamo domani?”
Quello che era iniziato come un singolo fine settimana è diventato una settimana, un mese, un anno… un decennio e più, e saranno quattordici anni al momento del matrimonio. Due persone su strade diverse ora intrecciate, trovando sempre qualcosa di nuovo da guardare, da provare e persone con cui condividere il tutto. E così speriamo di celebrare tutto ciò che abbiamo costruito insieme e tutto ciò che intendiamo costruire insieme a coloro che ci sono più vicini e cari…
